Kanye West Finally Responds To Kim Kardashian's Divorce Petition

Los Angeles, CA – Kanye West has reportedly responded to Kim Kardashian’s divorce petition. According to TMZ, Kanye is asking for joint legal and physical custody of the couple’s four children — North, Chicago, Saint and Psalm — but doesn’t want any spousal support. He also thinks each party should be responsible for their own impending legal fees.

Unlike Dr. Dre and Nicole Young’s contentious split, Kanye West and Kim Kardashian’s divorce should be fairly smooth. A prenuptial agreement was put in place prior to their legal union. Both are also committed to healthy co-parenting but will need a court to approve an arrangement.

Kardashian filed for divorce in February, three months after Kanye’s failed presidential campaign. During his ill-fated run, Kanye went on several Twitter tirades blasting the Kardashian-Jenner family, calling the family matriarch Kris Jenner a “white supremacist” and accusing his wife of cheating on him with Meek Mill.

As Ye’s behavior spiraled out of control, the reality television queen was forced to address her husband’s mental health issues in an Instagram post.

“As many of you know, Kanye has bi-polar disorder,” she wrote last July. “Anyone who has this or has a love on in their life who does, know how incredibly complicated and painful it is to understand. I’ve never spoken publicly about how this has affected us at home because I am very protective of our children and Kanye’s right to privacy when it comes to his health. But today, I feel like I should comment on it because of the stigma and misconception about mental health.”

Kardashian attempted to reconcile with Kanye, flying out to Kanye’s Wyoming ranch in July 2020. Paparazzi captured several photos of the couple inside of a car having an emotional conversation. The two had just made a fast food run to a local Wendy’s and Kardashian was visibly crying as they talked. Even so, divorce talk started to heat up at the top of the year, proving their efforts had been futile.

Shortly after Kardashian filed, a source told PEOPLE magazine, “He’s in that place of ‘if only.’ ‘If only I had done this, if only I hadn’t done that.’ He’s processing things. He thinks that the presidential run was the straw that broke the camel’s back. Before that, there was hope. After that, none.”

Kanye and the newly-minted billionaire tied the knot during a lavish Italian ceremony in May 2014.
