Trey Songz Arrested Following Violent Altercation With Police Officer During Kansas City Chiefs Game

Kansas City, MO – Trey Songz was reportedly arrested at the Kansas City Chiefs game on Sunday night (January 24). In a clip obtained by TMZ, the 36-year-old singer is in his seat at the Arrowhead Stadium and struggling with two police officers. As the tussle continues, Trey gets one of the officers in a headlock and appears to punch him in the head.

It takes several security and police officers to Trey in handcuffs before they ultimately pin him to his seat. Witnesses at the scene said Trey was being heckled by some fans a few rows behind him and he asked them to stop. That’s when the officer reportedly approached Trey and suddenly “went after him.” One witness reported Trey seemed shocked when the officer got physical, so he started to defend himself.

Law enforcement sources later confirmed Trey was taken into custody for trespassing, resisting arrest and assaulting a police officer. The first two charges are misdemeanors, but the last charge is a low grade felony, which means he could face more jail time.

Trey has had a rough couple of months. On January 17, an event he and Fabolous were hosting in Houston, Texas was shut down amid COVID-19 concerns after the fire marshal pulled the plug due to overcrowding at the Spire nightclub. An estimated 200 people were waiting outside of the venue to gain entrance before it was shut down around 1:30 a.m. local time.

Then in December 2020, a venue in Columbus, Ohio was hit with numerous violations following a Trey performance. Videos from the night showed attendees packing the area closest to the stage to get a look at him. The majority of them were without masks and failed to observe social distancing protocol. The Ohio Investigative Unit claimed no barriers were put in place to encourage social distancing and even employees weren’t seen wearing masks. The club faced hefty fines, a possible suspension of activity and revocation of their liquor license.

Trey is currently in custody but is expected to be released on Monday night (January 25).
