Popcaan Links with Drake and PARTYNEXTDOOR on ‘TWIST & TURN’
Less than 24 hours after announcing the project on social media, Popcaan unleashes his FIXTAPE.
The 19-track mixtape, which arrives on the heels of Jamaican Independence Day, includes a pair of collaborations with Drake. The OVO Sound labelmates link up on the Nineteen85-produced “TWIST & TURN,” which also features PARTYNEXTDOOR. On the dancehall tune, Champagne Papi reminisces over a girl from his past.
“You been missin’ since 2016 / Squid tell me gwaan fix tings,” he sings in a Jamaican patois. “You know that’s my decision / When she speak I listen / She swears you’re my Mrs. / I say we think different.”
FIXTAPE, Popcaan’s first project since December’s Vanquish, also includes a second collaboration with Drake on “ALL I NEED,” plus appearances from French Montana, Preme, Masicka, Stylo G, Dane Ray, Frahcess One, Tommy Lee, and Jada Kingdom.
Popcaan has been signed to OVO since 2018, but this marks his first official collaboration with Drake, who is readying his sixth studio album for release later this summer. His engineer/producer OVO Noel recently revealed that he is “90 percent” done with the project.
