RZA Provides 'Wu-Tang Clan: An American Saga' Season 2 Update

Exclusive – RZA and the rest of his Wu-Tang Clan brethren took their story to Hulu in 2019 when Wu-Tang: An American Saga premiered on the streaming platform.

Executive produced by RZA, Method Man, Brian Grazer, Francie Calfo and Alex Tse, the series portrayed a fictionalized version of the legendary Hip Hop collective. During a recent interview with HipHopDX, RZA revealed filming for Season 2 of the celebrated show is finally wrapping up.

American Saga will start airing in September,” he told DX by phone. “That story will be complete for the season. Then I’m looking to get back in a director’s chair. I feel like that’s important for me to continue to tell our stories through cinema.

“That’s going to take some time to develop a new script. But I’m having a great time finishing up the new season of American Saga.”

Set in 1990s New York City during the height of the crack-cocaine epidemic, An American Saga chronicles Wu-Tang Clan’s origins. Starring Ashton Sanders as Bobby Diggs (The RZA), he must figure out a way to escape his crime-laden upbringing for a chance at a rap career.

Shameik Moore (Raekwon), Siddiq Saunderson (Ghostface Killah) and Dave East (Method Man) also star in the series alongside recurring appearances from Joey Bada$$ and LaLa Anthony, who was cast as young Def Jam executive Tracey Waples last month.

Elsewhere in the Wu-Tang Clan camp, the crew is prepping for their first post-pandemic show at Red Rocks Amphitheater in Morrison, Colorado on August 13. Dubbed the “Wu-Tang Clan Experience,” the concert will find the symphony reimagining some of Wu-Tang’s biggest hits with Outkast’s Big Boi and DJ Chris Karns.

Red Rocks recently increased its capacity to 6,300 fans and is expected to open to full capacity on June 21. Tickets for the Wu-Tang Clan performance are on sale now via AXS.com.

Check back with HipHopDX for Part III with RZA soon.
