Jack Harlow Returns with New Single ‘Nail Tech’
Harlow’s back.
Jack Harlow makes a triumphant return with his first release of the year, “Nail Tech.” Produced by Boi-1da, with additional production by John Mayer, the horn-heavy track finds the Louisville rapper celebrating his health, wealth, and success.
“I don’t wish for my success, I speak it,” he raps. “I don’t take Ls, I give ’em out and I chuck ’em up.”
New Balance’s new brand ambassador knew instantly that this was the song once Boi-1da played him the beat in the studio. “This is one of those ones,” he told Apple Music’s Zane Lowe. “As soon as I heard it, those horns have something epic about them, but as soon as those kicks come in…”
“I went in the booth and I just laid a verse. And I remember, I went back to Atlanta a little while later and I played Don Cannon a bunch of my music just to show him where I was at. And I was playing stuff, and then at the very end, I played him this verse that was on ‘Nail Tech.’ He’s like, ‘Yo, what is that?’ I was like, ‘Oh, you like that?’ He was like, ‘Yeah, you need to finish that.’ So I got it together, man.”
Along with the song, he has dropped a video, which features cameos from his crush Yung Miami of City Girls and Louisville personality C-Tez, who also contributes background vocals. Harlow touches down in his hometown and plays a Steve Jobs-like character, who introduces a sex toy for women.
“Nail Tech” marks the beginning of a new era for Harlow, whose debut album Thats What They All Say dropped in December 2020. “We’re getting close, we’re getting close,” he teased. “I got to take my time and make sure everything’s right. But this is going to be the start of something.”
And he promises the music will be worth the wait. “I feel like I haven’t had a chance to lay on the world just how passionate and how studious I am and just how capable I am,” he said. “So I think my new music will let people know just how locked in I am.”
