Coi Leray Returns To Social Media To Tease New Music
After announcing a temporary departure and going off the grid, 2022 HipHopDX Rising Star Coi Leray returned to TikTok on Wednesday (March 9) to resume the roll-out of her forthcoming debut album by teasing a new song.
In the TikTok, Coi and a few acquaintances can be seen vibing to her unreleased track, dancing about in a big mansion in color-coordinated hoodies and sweats. Once Coi reshared the post to Instagram, Nicki Minaj took to the comment section to offer her support by dropping a few fire emojis. Coi had previously confirmed in February that A Boogie wit da Hoodie would be featured on her album as well. Before that, she revealed on Instagram that the project would have 18-tracks, though a release date still remains elusive.

After months of promoting her new record, the 2022 HipHopDX Rising Star decided to take a step back from social media in February. The New Jersey rapper took to Twitter to share a semi-alarming departure message for her “trendsetters,” and ultimately announced she was putting her career on ice for a bit.
“To all my trendsetters, I’m sorry I let you down,” she wrote. “I don’t have it in me to keep pushing. I feel like I’m brain dead. I pray that everyone continues to keep setting trends and striving. Don’t know when I’ll be back but I don’t even want to think about it. I love you for life.”
Coi’s tweet came a few weeks after she dropped her two singles off the album titled “Medicine” and “Anxiety.” The latter record dropped on January 28 and was meant as a direct response to all the harassment she’s dealt with in 2022. Before it dropped, she was compared by online trolls to fellow female rapper DeJ Loaf on Twitter and found the comparisons hurtful. She was also a victim of body shaming in 2021 by online trolls and had to defend herself against those attacks as well.
