Metro Boomin made a boss move.

The producer reportedly sold a portion of his catalog for nearly $70 million to Shamrock Capitol.

The Jasmine Brand reports the music catalog company will acquire Metro’s 2022 sophomore album, Heroes & Villains. It includes artists like Takeoff, Chris Brown, Gunna, A$AP Rocky, and more and more. It features singles like The Weeknd and 21 Savage’s “Creepin,” Don Toliver’s “Around Me,” Young Thug’s “Metro Spider,” and more. H&V debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 Chart and became Metro’s second consecutive album to land at No. 1 as a leading artist.

Since 1978, Shamrock has been the most active and influential buyer in the music catalog investment game, Vibe reports. One of Shamrock’s most high-profile investments is Taylor Swift’s catalog from Big Machine, which they acquired from Scooter Braun in 2020.

Artists selling their publishing is growing more popular. Last year, Future sold a portion of his catalog to Influence Media Partners. The investment included over 600 tracks from 2004-2020, such as “Mask Off,” “Life Is Good,” “Jumpman,” and more. Iggy Azalea and Justin Bieber are other artists that also sold some of their publishing.
