MeatSpady Makes History with Residency at Philadelphia’s Performance Garage, Following Independent Billboard Success and Chart-Topping Album
With a groundbreaking residency at Philadelphia’s Performance Garage, rising artist MeatSpady etched his name into the city’s musical history. The North Philadelphia native became the first rapper to grace the venue’s stage in its 23-year existence. He also became the first fully independent artist to have a residency in the city of Philadelphia. The residency, held throughout November, showcased MeatSpady’s versatility, featuring four distinct nights with genres ranging from Spoken Word to Hip Hop and R&B.

Living up to its name, ‘The Same Kind of Different Residency’, the string of shows followed the typical residency format but there was an atypical twist to it. MeatSpady didn’t perform the same set or the same song twice throughout the entirety of the residency. Every night a different show was on display for the nearly sold-out audience.
This residency came on the heels of MeatSpady’s album, ‘The Same Kind of Different,’ which charted impressively at #77 on the Billboard Top Album Sales chart. The album’s success catapulted him to #46 on the Emerging Artist Billboard chart during its release week. Additionally, ‘The Same Kind of Different Documentary,’ released in IMAX theaters on May 7th, 2023, is now available on MeatSpady’s YouTube channel.
MeatSpady’s musical journey began at an early age gaining inspiration from Snoop Dogg’s iconic Soul Train Awards performance in 1994. He would go on to release several underground mixtapes from 2007-2011 including the DJ Smallz hosted ‘Streets May Be Icy’ in 2008 that featured Meek Mill. A brief sabbatical to fulfill religious obligations preceded his return in 2018 with a newfound passion.
Since 2018, MeatSpady has garnered over 76 million streams on all platforms and secured a spot on Spotify’s editorial ESPN: Fifty/50 playlist. MeatSpady isn’t looking for any favors coming into the music industry. Owning the label that he is signed to, BankNdSpady Entertainment, owning the brand that produces his merch, The Beautiful Letdown Store, only adds an entrepreneurial edge to his artistic endeavors.
His music carries a profound message of self-acceptance and unconditional love, urging fans to embrace the diverse parts that make them who they are.
As MeatSpady’s star continues to rise, he remains a testament to the enduring spirit of Philadelphia’s music scene and a beacon of inspiration for independent artists striving to make their mark on the world.
