THE REVELS GROUP CELEBRATES 2024 BLACK: FUTURE. NOW. BRUNCH SUCCESS, HONORING JHENÉ AIKO, CASH COBAIN, AND MORE
The Revels Group (RVG), together with The Black Music Action Coalition (BMAC), Amazon Music and for the first year, Live Nation hosted the third annual BLACK: Future. Now. Brunch atop the roof of The Beverly Hilton on Sunday, September 15th.
Libations were provided by Don Londrés with 10k Projects and Spirit Music Group aboard as partners as well.
Revels Group Co-Founder and CEO Jamil Davis presented awards to the 2024 BFN honorees, Jhené Aiko, Cash Cobain, Rachelle Jean-Louis and Blake Brown-Grakal. Emotional high-points included powerful speeches from both Jhené Aiko and Rachelle Jean-Louis.
While accepting her award, Jhené Aiko proudly declared, “This is way better than a Grammy. Because Jamil (Davis) is someone I always call to make sure what I’m doing is cool… Whenever Jamil tells me I’m doing something cool, I know.
Brunch attendees included Nigerian super-star Pheelz, rappers Aminé and BABYKIRA, actor Michael Blackson as well as executive powerhouses such as Punch (President, TDE), Mike Caron (founder, APG), Amber Grimes (GM, LVRN Records) Jacqueline Saturne (President & EVP of Global Artist Relations, Virgin Music), Willie ‘Prophet’ Stiggers (Chairman, BMAC), Cheryl Paglierani and Caroline Yim (Music Agents, CAA) amongst others.
This year’s honorees included:
Jhene Aiko – Inaugural BFN “Brilliant Beyond” Creative Artistry Award
Superstar artist, Jhené Aiko, who recently wrapped a 30+ city sold out arena tour, will be honored for her continued excellence in artistry, as well as her entrepreneurship with the launch of her lines Jhenetics and Allel.
Rachelle Jean-Louis – BFN “Executive of The Year Impact” Award
Jean-Louis is Co-Founder of Tell Your Friends and manager of Victoria Monet, who’s celebrating a massive, chart-topping and Grammy-filled year. She was recently awarded Billboard’s R&B/Hip-Hop Executive Of The Year.
Cash Cobain – BFN “Future Phenom Now” Award
Artist and producer Cash Cobain is fresh off the release of his debut album, Play Cash Cobain and has quickly become one of the influential faces of the NYC Rap Scene.
Blake Brown-Grakal – “L(Eagle) Eye” Attorney of The Year Award
10K Projects, Blake Brown-Gakal, is one of the youngest black General Counsel of any label and was the lead in negotiating their historic partnership with Warner Music Group.
BLACK: Future. Now. is a program Jamil Davis and The Revels Group founded in 2022 during Black History Month to highlight black pillars alongside rising stars in the entertainment industry, who are paving the way for generations to come. By highlighting young executives in development as well as seasoned leaders, BFN is working to establish the next generation alongside the giants they will become.
