Wiz Khalifa Looks At 9 Month Prison Sentence In Romania For Cannabis Possession
Rapper Wiz Khalifa, known best for his stoner rap anthems has done something on brand, albeit with dire consequences. The artist was in Romania when he was found to be in possession of weed, which ended up landing him in legal trouble according to reports by TMZ.
In fact, the Romania’s Constanța Court of Appeal has sentenced the rapper to 9 months in prison instead of a 3000 Romanian Lei fine (which is nearly 700 USD) as earlier indicated. However, the rapper’s legal team is all set to appeal the sentence and figure out a more amicable compromise.
For what it is worth, Wiz did issue a public apology after being reprimanded for smoking a joint on stage in the country. On social media site X, his apology reads as follows:
“Last night’s show was amazing. I didn’t mean any disrespect to the country of Romania by lighting up on stage. They were very respectful and let me go. I’ll be back soon. But without a big ass joint next time.”
Regardless of what some may see as a reckless act, 9 months seems to be a disproportionate sentence. What do you think?
