2 Chainz Reveals Lil Wayne 'ColleGrove 2' Album Will Be Different From 1st Effort
While 2 Chainz’s Dope Don’t Sell Itself album is on the horizon, he’s already got his sights set on another project that’s been long in the making.
During a Spotify Greenroom on Wednesday night (January 26) with DJ Akademiks, the Drench God revealed plans to unleash the ColleGrove sequel with Lil Wayne later in 2022.
“This one is definitely coming out this year,” he proclaimed. “We’re actually in the process of mixing it and [Lil Wayne’s] on every single song.”

2 Chainz then hit on one major difference from the 2016 original to this year’s ColleGrove 2 being that he’s been locked in the studio with Weezy together a lot more for this rendition.
“We were in the studio together. I think the last time we were in the studio together maybe twice. This time, we’ve been in the studio together multiple times working on this project. Whether going back in after we’ve done something or whatever.
“I feel superexcited about this fucking project because it don’t sound like nothing I’ve ever heard before. And doing something like that with Wayne, it’s welcoming, it’s warming and it’s going to be accepted.”
2016’s ColleGrove debuted at No. 4 on the Billboard 200 with 53,000 total album-equivalent units in first-week sales. Prior to CG2, 2 Chainz is delivering his final trap album with Dope Don’t Sell Itself, which will arrive on February 4.
