50 Cent Predicts His 'The 50th Law' Series Will Be The Biggest Thing On Netflix
12 years after the release of his best-selling New York Times book The 50th Law, 50 Cent is turning it into a Netflix series.
According to Deadline, the Hip Hop mogul is teaming up with Black-ish creator Kenya Barris to develop an adaptation of the 2009 work. Co-written by Robert Greene, The 50th Law is a semi-autobiographical account of 50’s rise as a hustler and up-and-coming artist. The idea came about after 50 discovered Greene’s 1998 self-help book The 48 Laws of Power and reached out to collaborate.
Barris and Hale Rothstein — who have worked together on Black-ish, Grown-ish and #BlackAF — will write the pilot script and executive produce the series with 50 via G-Unit Films and Television, along with Greene. Lionsgate TV is producing the show through 50’s Starz deal.
50 took to Instagram to announce the series and predicted it will be the biggest thing on Netflix when it drops.
“Netflix now you know this is a problem,” he wrote. “Kenya Barris is no joke and if me and you ain’t cool, you ain’t gonna make it. Let’s work! Boom. This one is going to be #1 on Netflix, BOOM. The 50th Law. I GOT THE BEST WRITERS, @kenyabarris know we are not playing no games.”

The 50th Law adds to an already packed schedule for 50 on the television side of things, with Power Book II: Ghost renewed for a second season, Power Book IV: Force in the works, and Power Book III: Raising Kanan set to arrive this year. Elsewhere on Starz, he’s working on Black Mafia Family, Hip Hop anthology series A Moment In Time: Massacre focusing on his beef with The Game, and an untitled female sports agent project.
In addition to that, he’s also busy with ABC comedy series Family Affair starring Mary J. Blige and the T.I.-starring Twenty Four Seven for CBS All Access, with the second season of ABC drama series For Life also currently airing.
50 isn’t the only rapper Barris is collaborating with on a series. In July 2019, it was announced he would be working with Kid Cudi on an adult animated Netflix series titled Entergalactic, named after Cudi’s upcoming album of the same name. The show, which will follow a young man on his journey to discover love, has been delayed until 2022.
