August Alsina Appears To Address Jada Pinkett Affair On New Song 'Shake The World'

August Alsina has once again shared his thoughts on Jada Pinkett. After speaking on the romantic affair they had in his 2020 track “Entanglements,” the R&B crooner dropped another song called “Shake The World” on Tuesday (April 5) in which he addresses the backlash he experienced after their affair had been made public.

“I heard I was canceled,” he sings. “Well, let’s speak on that/Red dot on my back, I became a target/And I’m flawed but flawless, that’s what makes me August.”

Alsina and Pinkett made headlines around the world after they both confirmed they had engaged in a romantic relationship during a time when Pinkett and her husband Will Smith amicably split for a short period of time.

“I love those people literally like my family,” Alsina said of the Smiths in an interview with Angela Yee. “I actually sat down with Will and had a conversation due to the transformation from their marriage to life partnership that they’ve spoken on several times and it not involving romanticism. He gave me his blessing and I totally gave myself to that relationship for years of my life.

“And I truly am really, really deeply loved and have a ton of love for her. I devoted myself to it. I gave my full self to it – so much so to the point that I can die right now and be OK with knowing that I truly gave myself to somebody.”

“Shake The World” comes as backlash mounts against Will Smith, who resigned from the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences last week in the wake of his on-air assault of Chris Rock during the 94th annual Academy Awards.

Smith slapped the comedian after he made a G.I. Jane joke about Pinkett, likening her shaved head to the one Demi Moore sported for the 1997 film. Pinkett had been open about her struggle with alopecia, and the joke set off her husband, who followed the slap by demanding Rock keep Pinkett’s name out of his “fucking mouth.”

Alsina later took to Instagram and appeared to share his own thoughts on the slap heard round the world.

“Choose peace,” Alsina wrote. “Trusting that life’s intricate puzzle pieces are all forming together for the greater good and mastering of the seasonally sometime chaotic nature of your life’s art piece that’s being formed and painted by birthing life to your internal masterpiece; grown through external chaos-metamorphosing alchemy, dark turned 2 light and beauty within.”

He continued, “I’m A Walking Billboard & Network Simply Desiring To Televise & Broadcast Love, the love, grace and healing embrace of God, Good Music that’s healing (w/ a lil bit of nasty) (cus the art of sharing temples can too be healing).
