Bay Area Rapper Lil Yase Reportedly Shot & Killed
San Francisco, CA – Bay Area rapper Lil Yase was reportedly shot and killed on Saturday morning (November 28), adding to the growing list of rappers who have been gunned down in 2020.
According to TMZ, the body of 25-year-old Lil Yase (whose real name was Mark Antony Alexander), was found in the southern section of the East Bay, a region that encompasses Oakland. The puzzling kicker is Lil Yase is said to have told his friends he would “right back” during a Friday late-night studio session in Marin County — a region north of San Francisco.
Despite the street nature of his raps, friends and associates reportedly told TMZ Lil Yase had no ongoing beefs. His last Instagram post, uploaded just a day before his untimely demise, may contradict that as he wrote, “If my n**** trippin den I’m trippin it’s up wit #HappyThanksGiving”

Lil Yase made a name for himself circa 2016 when he was profiled in an article for The Fader titled “Surviving The Last Days Of San Francisco Rap.” In the story, he detailed his intent to move to Los Angeles because the scene was “more popping.” Some of his past collaborators include Sage The Gemini, Mozzy, Nef The Pharoah and Shoreline Mafia.
His upcoming EP Everyday Is Friday!, a collaborative effort with fellow San Fran rapper Itsfatfat, was just announced on Friday.
