Now, TMZ has confirmed with the HPD Benny was indeed the victim in the botched robbery. The Buffalo-bred rapper was in town likely on business and hit up a local Walmart with a couple of his friends. While they were in sitting in their car, another vehicle with five men inside pulled up next to them, drew their guns and demanded their chains.
Benny and his crew were apparently moving too slow for the alleged robbers, so one of them fired a round into Benny’s leg and they quickly fled. Benny and his friends peeled off as well but ultimately pulled over to call the police.
Benny was taken to a hospital for treatment, but his condition is currently unknown at this time. So far, the suspects haven’t been apprehended, but investigators are working on finding them.
The shooting follows a disturbing string of gun violence in the rap community. Following the fatal shootings of King Von and Dallas rapper Mo3, Boosie Badazz was shot in the leg while in Dallas for Mo3’s vigil on Saturday.
