Beyoncé Planning Oscars Performance Live From Dr. Dre, Eazy-E & Kendrick Lamar's Hometown

Compton, CA – Beyoncé tends to turn heads wherever she shows up, but the superstar is reportedly set to steal the spotlight at this year’s Oscars in spectacular fashion.

According to Variety, Mrs. Carter has been in “deep talks” with the organizers behind the 94th Academy Awards since last week about staging an iconic performance of her King Richard song “Be Alive.”

The plans will see Beyoncé perform live via satellite from tennis courts in Compton, California where Serena and Venus Williams sharpened their skills growing up — a nod to their father Richard, whom King Richard is based on.

One potential scenario would see Will Smith, who plays the lead role in the movie, join Queen B at the tennis courts to open the ceremony before making his way north to the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood.

Given Beyoncé’s highly-secretive approach to her work, however, sources believe it’s possible she could scrap the concept entirely if her plans were to be revealed.

In any case, Beyoncé’s presence is guaranteed to be felt at the 2022 Oscars as “Be Alive,” co-written by Roc Nation signee DIXSON, is nominated for Best Original Song.

King Richard is up for a slew of other awards including Best Picture, Best Actor (Will Smith) and Best Supporting Actress (Aunjanue Ellis).

A win for “Be Alive” would earn Beyoncé her first-ever Academy Award. She’s no stranger to the Oscars stage, though, having performed at the ceremony in 2005, 2007 and 2009.

The 2022 Oscars will air on Sunday (March 27) at 8 p.m. ET on ABC.
