Birdman Says CEOs Should Be Honored During Hip Hop’s 50th Anniversary

On Tuesday (Feb. 28), Birdman said that CEOs in the rap game deserve to be honored during Hip Hop’s 50th anniversary.
In a now-deleted post Instagram post, the Cash Money Records co-founder wrote, “[I’m] confused about 50 [years] of Hip Hop where they salute legendary artists, which is well [respected]. “
“Also, I think CEOs who kept these artists alive to be great [and] showed them how to keep Hip Hop alive should be saluted in a major way. I remember [when] they said Hip Hop was dead and we kept it alive. YMCMB 20 plus summers, [respect] our [hustle]. CEOs kept Hip Hop alive [for real, for real].”
Quality Control CEO Pierre “P” Thomas, whose label was just acquired by Scooter Braun’s HYBE America for $300 million, cosigned Birdman’s statement. “Real talk OG. This should be discussed in a major way. Let’s Go,” he wrote in the comment section. Snoop Dogg also agreed with him by writing “facts” and “great work [because] [you] and Slim did that.”
Birdman and his younger brother Slim founded Cash Money Records in 1992. The company, which is known as one of the most successful record labels of the 2000s to 2010s, is home to icons like Lil Wayne, Drake, and Nicki Minaj.
