Cardi B Dubs Joe Budden Her 'Mean Uncle' Following 'Superstar' Comment
Joe Budden isn’t shy when it comes to expressing his opinions. So, if he doesn’t like someone, he’ll probably let them know. During the latest episode of The Joe Budden Podcast, the show’s dogmatic host had nothing but love for his fellow New Yorker Cardi B.
The two have known each other long before 2017’s “Bodak Yellow” made Cardi a household name. Speaking to co-hosts Ice and Ish, Budden called the Bronx spitter a “superstar” and was adamant “you can’t argue that she is not.”
On Thursday (February 24), Cardi B shared the clip with her 21.9 million Twitter followers alongside a throwback photo of her posted up with Budden and wrote, “I told y’all he always believed in me. That’s why I always got love for him even when he gets me mad. That’s my mean uncle.”

In January, it looked like Cardi B was upset with Joe Budden after he inferred she had “mad time” on her hands because she’s “not doing an album” and has “all the money in the world, so much so, you see me every month trying to give it away.”
Emulating Cardi, he continued, “I’m giving Offset money, I’m buying a house over here, a house over here, I’m paying for funerals,” a reference to the funerals Cardi B funded for the victims of the deadly Bronx fire that claimed 19 lives just last month.
Although Cardi B didn’t mention his name, it was pretty clear who she was talking about when she addressed a certain someone during a subsequent Instagram Live session.
“I heard something about me and I don’t like that,” she said. “I don’t know why muthafuckas assuming shit about me and I really don’t muthafuckin’ like that. I’m hearing, right, that a little bird was talking about me and practically was saying that I’m not doing anything because I don’t have an album out and all that shit.
“It’s like, listen, if y’all want an album from me, you can just say that, but what y’all not gonna muthafuckin’ say about me or make me look like is I’m a lazy bitch because no bitch right now, nobody is overworking me.”
She added, “Right now, what I’m doing is, is setting up for my muthafuckin’ future so I won’t have to muthafuckin’ work hard, work as hard as that comes. I have a lot of business ventures.”
