Chance The Rapper Says He's 'Too Good At Rapping' While Responding To Constant Internet Slander

Chance The Rapper is often the butt of internet jokes, which only seemed to intensify after the release of his 2019 album The Big Day. The project, which received a dismal 2.3 rating from HipHopDX, was trashed by critics and eviscerated by his once loyal fans.

But during a recent video interview with Hot 97’s Ebro Darden and Peter Rosenberg, he banked on his talents as a way to always stay on top — despite “the internet coming for a teardown” as Ebro suggested.

“I’m happy that ‘The Return’ [new video with Jeremih] is out, I’m happy to put out some more music,” Lil Chano said. “I’m just really, really good at rapping. So, regardless of what happens, I’ma always have that to fall back on. And if that doesn’t work then I can perform my old raps and if that don’t work, I can direct someone else’s raps. It’s gonna work out though. There’s nobody that can rap like me. That’s a cool thing to have.”

In all fairness, Chance spends enough time on Twitter to make some inflammatory comments. In September, he was dragged from Chicago to the Moon for comparing Justin Bieber’s album to Michael Jackson’s 1979 classic Off The Wall. 

“I feel like we should talk about how fire your album is,” he told Bieber at the time. “I will say, this is no cap at all, I said this to you in Chicago, it’s some of the best music I’ve heard, period. It reminds me of when Michael Jackson made Off The Wall. Everybody’s who’s listening … I promise you, it’s literally groundbreaking music.”

Then in July, he found himself on the defense after he said fellow Chi-Town native Kanye West would make a better president than now President-Elect Joe Biden.

More recently, he caught a little ribbing from soul icon Dionne Warwick who asked him, “If you are very obviously a rapper why did you put it in your stage name? I cannon stop thinking about this.” But that was some clowning Chance didn’t mind. He excitedly responded, “Sorry, I”m freaking out that u know who I am. This is amazing! I will be whatever you wanna call me Ms Warwick. God bless you.”

Chance’s holiday-themed video for “The Return” was released on December 10 and is expected to appear on the deluxe edition of his 2016 collaborative project with Jeremih, Merry Christmas Lil’ Mama.
