Cypress Hill's B-Real Not Happy With Verzuz Forcing Fans To Pay
Cypress Hill had been preparing to step onto the Verzuz stage to face off against Onyx since March, but now that the event has come and gone, B-Real admits he’s disappointed in how his experience went in Los Angeles.
“I have to say although it was great to rock with our brothers @ONYX_HQ in the Verzuz battle, I feel like [Verzuz] shorted us all by not running it on IG live like other battles,” the legendary MC tweeted. “They made it a ppl event & made the battle a side show for the boxing match instead. IMO.”

DJ Skee echoed B-Real’s sentiments and added he wasn’t even aware a Verzuz battle between the legends had been happening.
“Both groups are iconic and unfortunately no on even knew this was happening,” he wrote. “I would have watched if I knew.”

Saturday’s rocky matchup was the first of the season, with other big-time rap rivalries set to premiere later this summer. The platform also announced its first ever record label showdown in July. The names haven’t been disclosed, but fans have been speculating potential matchups could involve Cash Money, No Limit, So So Def and Bad Boy Records.
The announcement of new Verzuz battles arrives after it was confirmed co-founders Swizz Beatz and Timbaland had teamed up with Lena Waithe for a feature-length documentary titled Gifted & Black, which focuses on the explosive rise of the multi-million dollar platform.
The documentary is scheduled to premiere on Amazon Prime Video and explores “the traditions of Black music to connect, going from the plantation to the Pulitzer Prize.” It also includes interviews and archival footage highlighting Black music and how the art form uplifts and united fans in difficult times.
