DJ Khaled, Questlove + More Congratulate Colin Kaepernick & Hot 97's Nessa On Birth Of First Child
Hot 97 host Nessa and former NFL quarterback Colin Kaepernick announced that the long-time couple welcomed their first child together earlier in August.
Nessa made the announcement prior to her hosting gig at the 2022 MTV Video Music Awards on Sunday (August 28) and the love poured in from her music family with the likes of DJ Khaled, Questlove, Bas, G-Eazy, Mariah Carey, Spike Lee and more sending well-wishes.
“That is your biggest blessing,” Khaled told Nessa at the VMAs pre-show in New Jersey. “Your world’s going to change, your life’s going to change. It’s not about you no more — it’s about your kids. And guess what, your kids is you, and God got you.”
Nessa admitted she was hesitant in sharing her blessing with the world but decided to formally announce the child’s birth before getting back to work in her first public gig since becoming a mother.
“I thought long and hard about sharing our life changing news today,” she wrote. “I decided to do so because today is the first day in a few weeks where I stepped out for work with a new life title – MOM! Colin and I welcomed our amazing baby to the world a few weeks ago and we are over the moon with our growing family.
“Recovering after delivery has been a journey (more on that later) and honestly I wasn’t going to share anything because this is sooooo personal to us and I realized I’m a complete mama bear! Colin is the most amazing dad and I’m soooo grateful that he is by our side for every moment of this journey.”

Nessa and the ex-49ers quarterback remained hush on the pregnancy until revealing the baby on Sunday, weeks after the birth. The couple has been dating since about 2015.
