Dr. Dre Reportedly Rushed By Ambulance To ICU After Suffering Brain Aneurysm
Los Angeles, CA – Dr. Dre was reportedly rushed by ambulance to Cedars Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles on Monday (January 4) after suffering a brain aneurysm.
TMZ reports sources connected to Dre and with direct knowledge to the situation say the 55-year-old Hip Hop legend “is stable and lucid,” but doctors still need to run a battery of tests to determine what led to the brain bleed.
Dre is in the middle of a contentious divorce with estranged wife Nicole Young and the two have been battling it out in court. According to the Mayo Clinic, high blood pressure is the leading cause of a subarachnoid hemorrhage and heavy lifting or strain can cause the aneurysm to rupture.
Young filed for divorce last June and the proceedings have become increasingly messier as the months drag on. She wants $2 million a month in temporary spousal support and $5 million for attorney fees, but Dre has already been paying her living expenses and moved out of their Malibu estate. Subsequently, a judge threw out her request.
The case revolves around a prenuptial agreement she reportedly signed in 1996, but Young believes the paperwork should be rendered null and void since Dre allegedly ripped it up one night as a romantic gesture.
After being accused of embezzling hundreds of thousands of dollars from Record One Studios, a company she co-founded with Dre, Young hit back with accusations of cheating and abuse. On Tuesday (January 5), Young revealed her husband of 24 years has over $260 million in cash on hand, plus a large amount of Apple stock, which she says is more than enough for him to pay her what she wants.
A hearing was expected to happen on Wednesday (January 6), but Dre will obviously have to focus on healing.
