Drake Fans Rejoice After 'Fake Drake' Gets The Boot From Instagram
A man who’s been masquerading as Drake at night clubs and various other spots has perhaps depleted his 15 minutes of fame. According to a post from Akademiks, “Izzy Drake” — as he’s widely known on the internet — was banned from Instagram over the weekend for impersonating the Toronto rap star.
The posts reads, “Fake Drake Was Banned From Instagram For Impersonating Drake!” Akademiks added in the caption, “Nah don’t tell me even Instagram was sick of it.” Akademiks wasn’t alone in his sentiments. A choir of “hallelujahs” soon flooded the post with comments such as, “THANK YOU GOD HE GET UNDER MY SKIN SUPER CORNY I GET THE HUSTLE BUT HE DOING TOO MUCH” and “He was doing too much so Drake got his shit outta here.”

The last post the Drake impersonator posted was an Instagram Live clip of himself demanding a OVO Sound deal from Drake — only if he was able to beat the 6 God in a celebrity boxing match. As he said in the clip, “Yo yo yo, it’s your boy Izzy Drake … you already know we outside. I just signed with Celebrity Boxing.
“August 27, I’m calling Drake out for a friendly boxing match. If I win, you gotta sign me to OVO and you gotta give me a million dollars. If you win, I’ll change my name.”
Again, the comment section erupted with negative comments from people who didn’t quite understand why “Izzy Drake” seems to be going overboard. Some called for a mental health evaluation, while others were simply glad he was removed from the platform.

The man’s career as “Fake Drake” began after he was spotted at Club LIV in Miami looking like Drake from the Certified Lover Boy era, complete with a heart outline edged into his hair. People soon became willing to pay him up to $5,000 or more for club appearances and performances.
“I’m touring, I’ve got some music events I gotta show up to,” he told No Jumper last November. “People DM me like, ‘Hey, you wanna come to my event because I can’t pay Drake – he’s too expensive. I’ll pay you $5,000.’ $5,000 just to show up. They pay my Airbnb, they pay the flight, they hook it all up.”
But there was a sense even Drake was tired of this guy making money off his likeness. Last month, “Fake Drake” showed up at a Houston club and was promptly told to leave. In a video that made the rounds on social media, promotor Chris Chizer instructed his security to escort the look-alike out of the building.
“Fake Drake can’t be in Area 29,” he said. “Fake Drake can’t be in here, he’s got to go! So he’s gotta get his ass up outta here.” The clip was eventually posted to Akademiks’ page, which got a “like” from Drake himself who apparently approved of Fake Drake’s removal.
