French Montana Sidesteps Kanye West 99-Cent eBay Debacle With New Sneakers

French Montana has been flirting with the custom sneaker market ever since he gifted Kanye West a pair of his “Coke Boy L.A. Ave” sneakers in December. Although people dragged French on social media for the odd-looking kicks, the Bronx rap star is continuing his quest into the sneaker industry.

On Thursday (March 17), French Montana took to his Instagram account with a post revealing a new pair of sneakers he intends to release very soon. The kicks look almost identical to the popular Air Jordan 3 model and come in a beige colorway with the MLB’s New York Yankees logo stitched on the side.

“NY’s ONE TIME FOR THE CITY COOMIN SHOON ….,” French Montana wrote in his caption.

The pair comes months after French Montana released his first sneaker the “Coke Boy L.A. Ave.” That sneaker had the same AJ 3-inspired model but in a Los Angeles Lakers purple and gold colorway. The “FWMGAB” rapper also unleashed a white Lakers colorway that was sold as a physical and digital NFT.

French will no doubt be hoping the reaction to this new pair isn’t the same he received for the “Coke Boy L.A. Ave.” Social media dragged the New York native for the custom sneaker, especially after it ended up on eBay.

French had met up with Kanye at the Donda Academy Homecoming basketball game in Los Angeles, where he handed him the pair of sneakers. The Chicago rap star allegedly left the shoes behind where one lucky fan found them and threw the pair up on eBay.

Unfortunately, the pair wasn’t one of those sneakers with high bidding prices. According to an alleged screenshot of the since-deleted eBay listing, the sneakers were being sold for just 99 cents.
