JID Holds Scavenger Hunt So Fans Can Hear His New Album Early
As the hype for JID’s new album The Forever Story hits a fever pitch, the Dreamville rapper announced he’s hosting a scavenger hunt for fans who can’t wait until Friday (August 26) to hear the new album.
JID took to social media to announce that there will be miscellaneous Pontiacs scattered throughout various cities and that he’d announce their locations soon. Whoever finds the cars first, will be able to hear The Forever Story two days early.
“Kinda not really a scavenger hunt because I’ll post the place and time soon, 3 different cities,” JID wrote with the eye emoji on IG.

Longtime fans of JID knows he has a special relationship with his old Pontiac G6, as he rapped avidly about the vehicle on his Dreamville debut The Never Story. The mid-sized family sedan transported him to college and even served as his home at one point. JID also claimed he wouldn’t get a new car until he could afford a Maybach.
However, he told a fan in 2018 that his Pontiac, which had been missing the driver-side handle due to a robbery attempt, had finally broken down.
“The Pontiac is cooked, held on as long as I could,” he wrote on Twitter.

The scavenger hunt comes one day after JID unveiled The Forever Story’s tracklist, which features guest appearances from Lil Durk, Lil Wayne, Ari Lennox, 21 Savage, Yasiin Bey, Johnta Austin, EarthGang, Kenny Mason and more.
“The official features on The Forever Story, wana say thank you to everyone who helped put these words and sounds together, this meant the world to me because none of this wa[s] eas[y] and your gave your all to my vision,” JID wrote on Instagram.
As for the production, the Atlanta rapper has linked with frequent collaborators Christo, Thundercat, Tommy Brown, Kaytranada, DJ Khalil and others.
While The Forever Story isn’t even out yet, JID told Complex he’s already thinking about what’s next, and said his follow-up project is likely to be a Gangsta Grillz tape with DJ Drama.
“Me and [DJ] Drama are really gonna do it right,” he said. “I’m talkin’ about on other n-ggas beats. We’re going to do a DiCaprio 3.”
