Kanye West Announces Yeezy, Gap + Balenciaga Collab: ‘It Is A Vision Come True’
Just when it appears Kanye West has done enough to cement his status as a fashion legend, the Chicago superstar is surpassing himself once again. On Friday (January 7), Ye took to his Instagram page with a post showing the next collaboration he’s working on behind the scenes.
In the photo, fans can see what appears to be a contract for an upcoming partnership between Gap, Balenciaga and Kanye’s Yeezy brand. He didn’t reveal any more details, but thankfully Vogue did some digging to find out what exactly what the collaboration is about.
According to Vogue, Kanye West and Balenciaga’s creative director, Demna Gvasalia, are teaming up for a special project with Gap called Yeezy Gap Engineered by Balenciaga. The deal will bring together the three popular fashion brands for something they say fans have never seen before.

“It is a vision come true to work with Gap and Demna, the creative director of Balenciaga, to make incredible product available to everyone at all times,” Ye told Vogue.
Demna added, “This is a very different challenge. I’ve always appreciated the utilitarianism and the accessibility of Gap. I share some of the same sensibilities in my creative language. This project allowed me to join forces [with Ye] to create utilitarian fashion for all.”
Kanye West worked with Demna last year, with the creative director helping the rapper design the stage sets and live streams of his Donda listening events in Atlanta and Chicago.
Meanwhile, Kanye has been an avid supporter of Balenciaga. In April, he helped raise $1 million with the luxury brand for the late DMX’s family and even went on a Balenciaga shopping spree in Miami earlier this week.
The first line of Yeezy Gap Engineered by Balenciaga merchandise is expected to arrive in June 2022, with another drop coming later in the year.
