Kanye West Pulls Out Of Coachella 2022

Indio, CA – Kanye West is no longer performing at Coachella later this month. Yeezy had been tapped to close out both weekends of the three-day festival, but has decided to pull out, according to a report from TMZ which was later confirmed by Variety.

There wasn’t a clear reason why Ye decided to pull the plug, but Variety heard from a source that he had not been preparing or rehearsing for the performance in recent weeks. Travis Scott was reportedly slated to join Kanye on stage as part of his comeback tour, and now Coachella is left with a major hole in the final night’s headliner without Ye.

It’s also unclear if the Indio, California-based festival — slated to begin on April 15 — will elect to replace Kanye with a new headliner or bump up the Grammy-winning Doja Cat in his place.

She and SZA both took home their first Grammy trophies on Sunday (April 3) after taking home Best Pop Duo/Group Performance for their “Kiss Me More” collaboration.

While Kanye West wasn’t in attendance for the Grammy ceremony, he didn’t leave empty-handed either. The Chicago icon took home a pair of Grammy Awards to bump his total up to 24 in his decorated career after winning Best Rap Song for “JAIL” with JAY-Z and Best Melodic Rap Performance thanks to the Lil Baby and The Weeknd-assisted “Hurricane.”

Some took to social media speculating Kanye West could be preparing to launch his own festival. Ye collaborator Sean Leon claimed Yeezy’s vision was too big for Coachella to handle.

“Vision too big for Coachella or any other festivals/award shows. OG building his own thing,” he wrote.

Kanye has been laying low since his March Instagram suspension. According to Page Six, he’s been working on himself and staying off social media and out of the headlines in favor of a healthy co-parenting relationship with Kim Kardashian for their four kids.
