Kodak Black Allowed To Tour Under New Probation Terms Following Trump Pardon
While Judge Jose Martinez ultimately rejected Kodak Black’s bid for early termination of his probation, he did make it a lot easier for the Florida rapper to keep his career afloat.
“The Government and Probation oppose early termination of supervised release,” court documents obtained by AllHipHop read. “Probation opposes early termination because of Defendant’s history of violence and compliance issues during supervised release. Neither the Government nor U.S. Probation, however, oppose converting Defendant’s supervised release to a non-reporting status.”
This switch-up to “non-reporting status” means Kodak will be allowed to travel and tour, which comes as good news for Kodak who just dropped off his fourth studio album Back For Everything.
“It is hereby ordered and adjudged that Defendant’s Motion for Early Termination of Supervised Release is denied without prejudice,” the judge ruled. “However, Defendant’s supervised release shall be converted into a non-reporting status. Defendant shall comply with all conditions of non-reporting supervised release, as set forth by U.S. Probation.”
The “Super Gremlin” lyricist was previously freed from prison by former president Donald Trump as part of a series of presidential pardons he made before leaving office in January 2021. Kodak had served 21 months in jail for falsifying information in order to buy firearms, and Trump freed him from prison but kept him on probation.
The Sniper Gang spitter’s lawyer Bradford Cohen had previously cited good behavior as terms for early termination of his probation, but authorities objected. Kodak violated said probation after failing a drug test and testing positive for MDMA. He enrolled in a 90-day rehab stint that he completed last December.
Kodak Black dropped off Back For Everything on February 25. The 19-track project features one sole guest appearance from Lil Durk.
He also gave his single “Love Isn’t Enough” the visual treatment on Tuesday (April 5). Check it out below.
