Mystikal is looking to get some privacy in his Rape case.

As reported on Hip Hop DX, the New Orleans rapper’s new defense attorney, Tiffany Myles Crosby filed a request for a gag order to be placed on his rape and false imprisonment case. The reason is due to an “inordinate amount of publicity.”

If the gag order gets approved, attorneys and individuals from either side would be barred from commenting on the case to anyone, including radio, TV, or newspaper outlets. Mystikal appears in court on March 20.

The 52-year-old “Shake It Fast” rapper is facing life in prison following his first-degree rape and domestic abuse indictment.

The alleged attack happened on July 30, last year, at his home in Prairieville, Louisiana. NOLA reports on September 6, the Ascension Parish grand jury “handed up the rape charge and nine other criminal counts against the Grammy-nominated rapper. Sheriff deputies accused Tyler of “imprisoning, strangling, raping and robbing a woman during a financial dispute.”

Following the alleged incident, Mystikal is also charged with a single count of domestic abuse, battery by strangulation, simple robbery, possession of heroin, illegal possession of Xanax, possession of methamphetamine, possession of marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia, according to two indictments against him, the outlet reports. After police searched his home, he was hit with two additional indictments on the same day.

It’s noted Mystikal is registered as a lifetime sex offender after his 2003 conviction for sexual assault and extortion. He’s had other arrests in the past for drug possession, domestic violence, and rape, but none led to his conviction. In 2017, he spent nearly 18 months in jail for a sexual assault case, but a grand jury dismissed the charges.

He remains behind bars at Ascension Parish Prison without bail.
