T-Pain Finally Clears Up Confusion Over 'I'm Sprung' Lyrics: 'It Drives Me Crazy!'
T-Pain has cleared the air over the lyrics to his 2005 hit “I’m Sprung,” with the autotuned crooner taking to Twitter on Sunday (April 3) to set the record straight once and for all.
“How in God’s name do ppl hear ‘out to get me’ on ‘I’m Sprung?!’” T-Pain wrote. “It drives me crazy! It’s ‘Dog she got me’…. How are you hearing the other thing at all?!”
He added, “How are you even hearing ‘get’ over ‘got’ I just can’t think of a way to hear that,” before concluding that fans should, “Plz go listen to the song with this new information. It’s like watching an old movie as an adult and finally understanding all the sex jokes.”

“I’m Sprung” was T-Pain’s debut single and initially appeared on his debut record Rapper Ternt Sanga, which peaked at No. 33 on the Billboard 200 and was eventually certified gold by the RIAA. The track itself broke into the Billboard Hot 100, peaking at No. 3 and was later certified platinum.
In 2019, “I’m Sprung” was remixed and revamped by Tory Lanez for his 2019 album Chixtape 5, a collab with T-Pain he said he enjoyed. The 37-year-old rapper was then preparing to drop more tracks he had made with the Toronto lyricist in 2020 but ultimately decided to hold off after reports emerged that Lanez might have allegedly shot Megan Thee Stallion in the foot.
“Aight so what’s the temperature on Tory because I was just bout to drop a song with him and $,” he wrote, clarifying that the “$” symbol stood for Ty Dolla $ign.
Needless to say, T-Pain didn’t end up dropping the tracks.
“I don’t know why n-ggas like fucking up when I’m ready to put a record out,” T-Pain later said on Drink Champs after N.O.R.E. asked him about his work with both Tory and Chris Brown. “As soon as I put a record out with Chris, he fucked up. I put a record out with Tory Lanez, he fucked up. I’m [like] the bitch in the hood that pick the wrong n-ggas.”
