Tupac Shakir will finally receive his star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame this month.

According to The Los Angeles Times, the late hip hop legend was initially set to receive the posthumous honor in 2014 but a ceremony date was never set in stone.“This iconic artist has continued to be part of the zeitgeist for decades after his passing and will continue to be an important cultural figure for many years to come,” Walk of Fame producer Ana Martinez said in a press release obtained by the publication. “Surely, as one of L.A.’s own, Tupac’s star will be added to the list of most visited stars.”

Tupac’s sister Sekyiwa “Set” Shakur is set to accept the honor on his behalf during the formal opening ceremony on Wednesday, June 7th at 10:30 a.m. Radio host Big Boy will be the emcee of the event and director Allen Hughes and writer Jamal Joseph will be the guest speakers.

The “All Eyez on Me” rapper was killed during a drive-by shooting in Las Vegas on Sept. 13, 1996. He was struck four times, two in the chest, one in the arm, and one in the thigh and died from his wounds six days later. Tupac was only 25-years-old.
