YNW Melly All Smiles Ahead Of Double Murder Trial: 'I’ll Be Home This Year'
Broward County, FL – YNW Melly was all smiles on Tuesday (April 19) when he appeared in a Broward County courtroom ahead of his double-murder trial. The Florida rapper is accused of murdering 21-year-old Anthony Williams and 19-year-old Christopher Thomas, with lawyers and a Broward judge scheduled to start picking a jury on Wednesday (April 20).
After appearing in court, YNW Melly posted a photo of himself with a beaming smile while claiming he’ll be released from prison in 2022.
“It’s bout that time,” he wrote on Twitter. “y’all can uncross y’all [nuts] i’ll be home this year.”
If convicted, he faces the possibility of life in prison or death by lethal injection.

YNW Melly was arrested in 2019, and is accused of gunning down Williams and Thomas then conspiring to make it look like a drive-by shooting.
According to the Sun-Sentinel, Melly’s mother, Jamie King, withdrew her motion to stop prosecutors from requiring her to attend a pre-trial conference that’s taking place on Thursday (April 21). King doesn’t appear on any witness lists, so it’s currently unknown why prosecutors want to talk to her.
Her lawyer previously stated she knows nothing about the case and shouldn’t be called as a witness.
On Sunday (April 17), YNW Melly revealed his phone privileges had been revoked but he was still in good spirits.
“To all my loved ones and close friends I wanted to let everyone know, that my phone privilege have been revoked,” he wrote in the caption. “I am no longer allowed to call or have video visitation. That is the reason why no one has received any calls from me but do not worry, I am in great spirits. My happiness and faith will never be broken. Happy Easter to all my Fans and family and friends.”
