Yo Gotti To Headline Juneteenth Unity Weekend

Yo Gotti will be celebrating Juneteenth in a big way next month. On Wednesday (May 25), Dallas Southern Pride announced the Collective Music Group boss will be headlining their 2022 Juneteenth Unity Weekend event.

The rapper will be taking the stage at the Mega Party on Saturday, June 18 for a special performance commemorating the holiday. Texas natives Erica Banks and Yella Beezy will be joining Gotti on stage for the Mega Party while Moneybagg Yo, City Girls, and Saucy Santana will perform at the Juneteenth Unity Festival and Pool Party.

“Juneteenth Unity Weekend is a celebration and representation of the many intersections and beautiful mosaics within the Black community,” said Kirk Myers-Hill, President of Dallas Southern Pride. “The Black community is only as strong as its Black Gay brothers and sisters. Juneteenth is an opportunity to showcase the unity and display the belief that we are all stronger together.”

Over 20,000 people will pack the grounds at the Juneteenth Unity Weekend for the four-day event. Guests will also be treated to health and wellness screenings, COVID-19 vaccinations, and family-based activations on top of all the music concerts expected to go down next month.

Yo Gotti and his Collective Music Group imprint have been seeing a lot of success that may not have happened if Gotti hadn’t taken 50 Cent‘s idea to change the group’s name. The Memphis native revealed the news in his cover story with Billboard.

“I was having a [phone] conversation with 50 Cent, and he was like, ‘Yo, you’re winning, but you can’t be Cocaine Muzik Group — that’s too harsh. They’re going to be scared of that,’” Gotti said. “[I] thought about it like, ‘Damn, he’s right. What else does CMG mean?’ He put it in my head to start thinking in that direction.”
