Birmingham Rapper 1 Bat Drops New EP ‘Something To Say’
Birmingham’s own rising talent, 1 Bat, has just released his highly anticipated EP, Something To Say, and it’s a bold statement from an artist who’s never short of thoughts. Known for his raw lyricism and captivating flow, 1 Bat gives listeners a personal glimpse into his current life and mindset, with the EP delivering a genuine expression of his lifestyle and experiences.
In Something To Say, 1 Bat aims to resonate deeply with fans through real, relatable bars. “Personally, when I listen to music, I feel it always sounds best when there are lyrics that resonate with me,” says 1 Bat. “I began making this EP to describe my situation and lifestyle right now, and I hope my listeners feel the same when they hear it.”
The five-track project explores themes of ambition, struggle, and reflection, underscored by gritty beats and poignant lyrics. True to his ‘old school’ approach, 1 Bat hand-wrote every lyric before hitting the studio, ensuring each track carries an intimate touch. “From paper to people’s speakers and headphones, I hope I can make an impact,” he says.
One of the standout tracks, according to 1 Bat, is ‘Death or Success.’ “It’s difficult to pick a favourite, but I’d say ‘Death or Success’ holds a special meaning for me. It’s very powerful and takes you on a journey when you listen to it,” he adds.
As he looks ahead to 2024/5, 1 Bat isn’t slowing down. The Birmingham native plans to ramp up his music-making while sharpening his focus on promotion, aiming to push Something To Say through TikTok, YouTube, Instagram, and other platforms. “I want to get 1 Bat into more playlists,” he notes, with big moves on the horizon.
While music dominates his daily grind, 1 Bat admits there’s little else that holds his attention. “If there’s not music, I’m probably not there. If I’m not making music, I’m probably asleep,” he says with a chuckle. As the EP rolls out, though, fans can be sure there’s plenty more music on the way from the rapper.
