Capella Grey Got The Summer Again, A Vibe Responsibly Type of Summer
The sounds of horns honking, “rude” New Yorkers, MTA trains, police sirens squealing and, of course, ice cream trucks is what a summer in NYC sounds like. As of June 21, 2024, the world has officially added Capella Grey to the top of that list. Capella released his debut album Vibe Responsibly Volume 1.
The world was introduced to Capella Grey’s infectious energy when he released his hit single “Gyalis,” which soared to #10 on the Billboard R&B/Hip-Hop songs chart and achieved multi-platinum status. “Gyalis” was named song of the summer consecutively for three years. Every time you hear the song, no matter where you were, you will feel like it’s your first time ever hearing it.
Grey has toured the world and worked with some of the biggest artists to date with one hit song, while teasing unreleased songs since 2021. Breaking the barriers and shifting the paradigm of music is what Grey aimed to do. Creating music that people can “vibe” to, and music that is realistic and based on everyone’s true story. If you aren’t from and/or never been to NYC, you might be able to call yourself a New Yorker now.
VRV1, is a testament to Capella’s journey thus far. Each track from the first song “City of The Vibe” to the final song “Song About Me” was not only placed strategically, but it left you wanting to listen and then wanting more. His word play and storytelling are the life of a true New Yorker. His star-studded features included Jaewon (Jadakiss’s son), Young M.A, Jacquees, Cash Cobain, Jada Kingdom, Dream Doll, Journey Montana, Tone Stith, J.I the Prince of N.Y, French Montana, Fivio Foreign, Tory Lanez, Skillibeng & Marridon. While that seems like a lot of features, let’s take into consideration that the album is 22 songs.
VRV1 is an album that demands you to listen. Capella spent days and hours in the studio perfecting this album, and, although it took a few years, his fans were not at all disappointed. He and his brother/producer BBearded created a fusion of R&B and Hip-Hop, which we now know as R&BOP. Every song evokes a different mood. There’s a song for the “Bougie,” beautiful and fly women, a song for the fellas engaging in all the “ANTICS!” and another song that’ll have everyone in a party giving “One More Wine”.
It may be too soon to call it, but Capella could be crowned today’s King of NYC, and he has the next decade if he can continue to create timeless music. In addition to his debut album, he mentioned releasing videos, a tour, merch and more.
