Chris Rock Shuts Down ‘F**k Will Smith’ Heckler at Comedy Show
Chris Rock is taking the high road.
After breaking his silence about the Oscars, the comedian was back in Boston for the second sold-out night of his stand-up comedy tour.
He began his set by once again addressing Sunday’s Academy Awards where he was slapped in the face by Will Smith after making a joke about Jada Pinkett Smith’s hair.
One audience member tried to interrupt the show by yelling out, “F**k Will Smith!” but Rock wasn’t having it and immediately shut it down.
“No, no, no, no, no…” he repeatedly said until the heckler stopped.
According to the New York Post, security was removing hecklers at the Wilbur Theater, whether they supported Chris or not.
“All we did was interact and respond to the comedian,” said one fan who was kicked out. “They are so afraid that someone is going to say something that they kicked us out before we could.”
The night before, Rock returned to the stage where he addressed the headline-making incident for the first time.
“I don’t have a bunch of shit about what happened, so if you came to hear that, I have a whole show I wrote before this weekend,” he told the crowd. “I’m still kind of processing what happened. So, at some point I’ll talk about that shit. And it will be serious and funny.”
During that show, hecklers also expressed anti-Smith sentiments, but Rock ignored the comments and continued with his hour-long set.
Will Packer, who produced the Oscars, appeared on “Good Morning America” Friday where he recalled the evening’s events. He said that LAPD was ready to arrest Smith until Rock declined to press charges.
“They were laying out the options, and as they were talking, Chris was being very dismissive of those options,” recalled Packer. “He was like, ‘No, I’m fine.’ He was like, ‘No, no, no.’ Even to the point where I said, ‘Rock, let them finish.’”
