DMX to Undergo Brain Function Tests
DMX remains hospitalized for a fifth day and is set to undergo a series of critical tests that will determine his outcome.
The 50-year-old rapper is in a coma at White Plains Hospital on New York and his condition remains mostly the same, his manager Steve Rifkind tells TMZ.
Doctors will perform a battery of tests today to assess his level of brain function. X suffered a heart attack triggered by a drug overdose on Friday night. He was deprived of oxygen for 30 minutes, which severely impacted his brain. Source say he has “little brain activity” and is in a “vegetative state.”
The prognosis does not look good, but Wednesday’s tests will determine decisions the family may have to make going forward.
“DMX is currently on life support and in a coma,” Rifkind told TMZ on Tuesday. “There are multiple people with inaccurate information about his well-being and it is not helpful and productive. Tomorrow he will undergo further tests on his brain function and his family will determine what’s best from there. We appreciate your prayers and support.”
Fans remain hopeful for his recovery. On Monday, hundreds gathered for an emotional prayer vigil outside White Plains Hospital. His family including his mother, fiancée, and some of his kids have been visiting him at the hospital, while many of his celebrity friends have shared well wishes on social media.
“Prayers for DMX and his family,” tweeted Missy Elliott, while LL Cool J added, “We Love you X get well fast.”
