Drake Accepts Billboard Artist of the Decade Award with Son Adonis
Drake is the Artist of the Decade.
After dominating the past 10 years, the OVO icon was honored with the Artist of the Decade Award at the 2021 Billboard Music Awards on Sunday (May 23). Both his parents, Sandi and Dennis Graham, and OVO brothers were on hand to present him with the prestigious award, which has previously been awarded to Eminem and Mariah Carey.
“When Drake was asked who should present him with the Artist of the Decade, he had a lot of choices,” said Future the Prince. “But he looked me straight in the eye and said it should be you guys, my friends and family, the people that have been there every step of the way with me… You see, that’s just who Drake is. He’s the most kind, selfless, generous person we know.”
A dapper Drake emerged holding hands with his son Adonis before giving the trophy to the 3-year-old.
“I know that I’ve spent an incalculable amount of hours trying to calculate all the things I did wrong, but tonight I’m sure as hell we did something right,” said Drake following a video montage that celebrated his numerous accomplishments.
The 34-year-old rapper went on to thank his friends, collaborators, and peers. “All of your decisions and the music you make really does have me tossing and turning at night trying to figure out what I should do,” he continued.
Adonis started to walk off stage before his dad lifted him up. “And to you, I want to dedicate this award to you,” he said as he kissed his son. Adonis, who was making his first public appearance, burst into tears before hugging his father.
