Eminem Calls Out Snoop Dogg on New Song ‘Zeus’

Eminem is clapping back at Snoop Dogg for “doggin’” him.

On Friday, the “Rap God” dropped Side B to his album Music to Be Murdered By, which includes a shot at Snoop Dogg. On “Zeus” featuring White Gold, Shady takes aim at Snoop for not including him on his top 10 list.

“And as far as squashin’ beef / I’m used to people knockin’ me / But just not in my camp / And diplomatic, ’cause I’m tryna be,” he raps. “Last thing I need is Snoop doggin’ me / Man, dog, you was like a damn God to me / Man, not really / I had dog backwards.”

The diss comes after Snoop left Em off his top 10 favorite rappers while speaking with “The Breakfast Club.” When asked why, Snoop said, “‘Cause there’s some ni**as in the ’80s that he can’t f**k with.”

Calling Em the “the great white hope,” Snoop also credited Dr. Dre for Em’s success. “White rappers had zero respect in rap,” he said. “[Dre] has probably put Eminem in the position where he could be labeled as one of the top 10 rappers ever. I don’t think so, but the game feels like he’s top 10 lyricists and all that that comes with it. But that’s just because he comes with Dr. Dre and Dr. Dre helped him find the best Eminem that he could find.”

Elsewhere on Side B, Em makes amends with his “Love the Way You Lie” collaborator Rihanna, apologizing for a leaked verse from 2009 where he sides with Chris Brown, just months after he was charged with assaulting Rihanna.

“Of course I side with Chris Brown, I’d beat a bitch down too,” Em rapped on an unreleased version of B.o.B.’s “Things Get Worse” off 2011’s EPIC album, which was a leftover from his Relapse recording sessions.

On “Zeus,” Em apologizes for his disrespectful comments. “But, me, long as I re-promise to be honest / And wholeheartedly, apologies, Rihanna,” he raps. “For that song that leaked / I’m sorry, Rih / It wasn’t meant to cause you grief / Regardless, it was wrong of me.”

The track also includes references to Chance the Rapper, Migos, Future, and Drake. “And, Drake, they’re gonna turn on you one day too / And the more you win, the sooner they do,” raps Eminem. “They’ll be calling you a trash bin / Sayin’ that your new one isn’t better than your last and / Even if it is, once they start to turn their backs / They ain’t never comin’ back in.”
