Freeway Mourns Death of Son Jihad

Freeway is mourning the death of his son.

On Thursday (Oct. 29), the Philadelphia rapper announced that his son Jihad passed away at the age of 19. In a heartbreaking post on Instagram, the State Property rapper shared a photo of himself standing next to Jihad on what appears to be his graduation day.

“God knows I try my best to be strong, but this right here is a pain like I never felt,” wrote Freeway. “Please cherish your time and your love ones because we’re not promise the next breath.”

Details surrounding his death remain unclear. Freeway, who is of Muslim faith, asked friends and fans to keep him and his family in their prayers. “I Pray Allah forgives my son for all Of his sins and I pray that Allah grants him the highest level of paradise. Ameen,” he added. “Please make dua for him & my family.”

Jihad was an up-and-coming rapper, who went by SNOWHADD. He had shared his aspirations of following in his father’s footsteps and signing to JAY-Z’s Roc Nation. Freeway, best known for his 2003 hit “What We Do” featuring JAY-Z and Beanie Sigel, released his 2018 album Think Free through Roc Nation.

He received messages of support from friends including DJ Jazzy Jeff, Consequence, and Bun B, who wrote, “My deepest condolences for you and your family.”
