Future Sued Over Copyright Infringement Claims For ‘Mixtape Pluto’ Artwork

Rapper Future, an artist regarded by many as one of the most innovative voices in the last few decades, has recently found himself in a sticky situation. Specifically, the rapper has been sued by Garey C. Gomez, a photographer, over claims of copyright infringement.

The project in question is Mixtape Pluto, for which Future allegedly used Gomez’ photographs of the Dungeon Family home without due permission. The complainant now seeks justice for damages and “profits attributable to the infringement,” citing “irreparable” harm from use that wasn’t prohibited.

According to a document review by Complex, the case was filed on Oct. 2 against Titol Retail and Wilburn Holding Company, which according to Gomez, is affiliated with Future and his label Freebandz. Apparently, two of the photos that were used to market and sell merchandise belonged to Gomez, and were registered under the U.S. Copyright Office.

Now, the ball is in Future’s court; how do you think he should respond?
