J. Cole Nears Release of ‘The Off-Season’
The Off-Season is approaching.
Just days after Bas hinted that J. Cole’s new project was on the way, the Dreamville boss himself seemed to confirm that his latest body of work is done and ready for release. In a rare Instagram Story on Friday (April 30), an excited Cole announced that he listened to The Off-Season while driving in his car.
“Just rode through the city to The Off-Season,” he wrote. “Dawg… Too excited.”
Earlier in the week, Bas claimed that Cole was planning to drop his new mixtape in the next two weeks (possibly May 14) and posted a photo of Cole in the studio before deleting it. In his caption, he wrote, “The Off-Season. pack your bags. in two weeks.”

Back in December, Cole revealed that his next project would be The Off-Season, followed by It’s a Boy and his long-awaited album The Fall Off.
J. Cole hasn’t released a solo project since 2018’s KOD, which was followed by Dreamville’s 2019 compilation Revenge of the Dreamers III. Last summer, he dropped two singles, “The Climb Back” and “Lion King on Ice,” along with the politically-charged track “Snow on Tha Bluff.”
