Jaheim Arrested on Animal Cruelty Charges
Jaheim Hoagland has been arrested on animal cruelty charges after 15 dogs were discovered living in deplorable conditions at his home.
According to the New York Daily News, police went to the R&B singer’s home in Hillsborough, New Jersey on Monday morning (Sept. 6) to investigate a report of a “puppy in distress.”
They ended up finding six dogs in the driveway. One of them, a mixed breed pit bull terrier, was initially unresponsive in a water-filled crate and had to be euthanized.
“Additional dogs were found inside of separate crates which were partially filled with several inches of water and dog feces,” prosecutors said.
Jaheim, 43, was arrested outside the home before cops heard barking coming from inside the house, where they discovered nine more dogs “in varying stages of emaciation” and without access to food or water.
Two of the dogs were taken to an emergency vet clinic. All 14 surviving dogs, including 12 mixed breed pit bull terriers, one American Staffordshire terrier, and one mixed breed boxer, were later taken to Long Hill Kennel in Hillsborough.
Jaheim, known for hits like “Put That Woman First” and “Fabulous,” has been charged with third-degree animal cruelty and failure to provide necessary care to an animal. He was booked into Somerset County Jail and is awaiting a court hearing.
