JAY-Z Boasts About His ‘A++’ Playlist Game

When it comes to making playlists, no one can knock JAY-Z’s hustle.

Following the sale of TIDAL to Square, Inc. earlier this year, the Roc Nation mogul got on a call with Square CEO Jack Dorsey on Monday where he discussed the future of the streaming music service.

During the half-hour conversation on Twitter Spaces, JAY-Z boasted about his playlist game and how no one can compete with him when it comes to curating the perfect playlist.

“I found so many songs [on TIDAL], my playlist game is A++,” he said, according to Complex. “I challenge anyone out there…I’m definitely, you know, in the top tier of playlist creators.”

JAY-Z has a strong track record when it comes to his playlists. In April, he shared a playlist featuring some of his favorite Nas songs. Prior to that, he recapped the year with his “2020 vision” playlist featuring music from Drake, Pop Smoke, and Megan Thee Stallion.

In April, Square finalized a deal to acquire a majority stake in TIDAL for $302 million. As part of the “game-changing” partnership, the existing artist shareholders will continue to be co-owners including Beyoncé, Rihanna, Kanye West, Madonna, Alicia Keys, and Nicki Minaj.

And TIDAL has no plans of letting up, according to Hov. “We are specifically artist-driven, so anything that’s moving in the culture, we want to be involved in it or reactive to it,” he said. “TIDAL went through a lot of iterations and a lot of mistakes and a lot of backlash, and we took our lumps and we responded in kind. We’ll continue to do that because the mission and the intention of what we want to do is right. We will continue to be part of the conversation and part of the culture.”
