Joyner Lucas Pays Homage to Kanye West on ‘Ye Not Crazy’
Joyner Lucas is coming to Ye’s defense.
After paying tribute to Will Smith on his 2020 single “Will,” the rapper is showing his support for another hip-hop icon, Kanye West, with his latest single “Ye Not Crazy.”
In the video, Joyner recreates Ye’s famous masked looks from his DONDA concerts. He raps on top of a Sherp ATV, another Ye signature, in one scene and even morphs his and Ye’s faces together.
“How do you spell crazy? G-E-N-I-U-S,” he raps. “What you know about mental health when you live in hell and you out of meds? / What the f**k is a meltdown when my meltdown is on a private jet?”
The self-proclaimed underdog shares how Ye inspired his hustle. “Labels ain’t wanna sign a check / Then I got on my Ye shit, turned every no to a solid yes,” he adds before name-checking Ye on the hook.
“Hold up, Ye’s not crazy … Even if they try to cancel me, that ain’t gon’ faze me.”
Joyner, whose last project Evolution dropped in October 2020, recently made headlines when he went off on Lollapalooza and Machine Gun Kelly, who he called a “goofy ass ni**a.” He later apologized for his rant.
