Lil Baby Released from Police Custody in Paris

Lil Baby was released from custody on Friday following his arrest in Paris.

According to The Associated Press, the Atlanta rapper was fined by Paris police for having cannabis in his car after he was stopped along with NBA star James Harden, who was frisked but not detained.

Lil Baby’s arrest occurred on the popular Avenue Montaigne while he was in town for Paris Fashion Week. Video showed a plainclothes officer frisking a confused-looking Harden while a handcuffed Baby is seated in the back of a police van.

“I turned my head and it was unbelievable, I saw Lil Baby and James Harden … they are standing and are being frisked,” said a witness, Lance Avraham Pena.

According to a French police official, police reportedly stopped Lil Baby, Harden, and his bodyguard because they smelled marijuana coming from their car. The official said that Lil Baby initially refused to allow police to check the car. Uniformed officers arrived and proceeded to search the car, allegedly finding 32 grams of cannabis.

Lil Baby and the bodyguard were detained on suspicion of transporting drugs, and released Friday morning after being handed fines.

Following his release, the “On Me” rapper returned to Instagram and assured fans that he was OK. “I’m good,” said Baby.

He appeared to proceed with his Paris trip, hitting up designer stores including Louis Vuitton and Goyard. “Back at it,” he wrote on one IG Story.
