Minnesota Rising Artist JUST JIMI unique Sound Might Be What His State Missing Lately
Rising musician JUST JIMI sent shock waves throughout his state with his latest album “Two Tone Demon” which showcases his diversity. JUST JIMI is an eclectic artist, meaning his style and approach to music is diverse. He’s known to cover other genres outside just the hip-hop/rap space. With songs like “Minefield”, he puts a spin on the pop/punk sound. While also showing, he can have a darker, more gritty sound with “Proud To Pay”.
We just asked JIMI more about his background and got to know how he got to where he’s at today ?
I’m from where the majority of all of us are from, right in the middle of the bullshit. I grew up in the major cities in Minnesota. South Minneapolis, North Minneapolis & Brooklyn Park. I come from a real mixed family you know that I had to overcome many obstacles in life which made me who I am today.
Where are you from generally ?
The state of Minnesota and I lived in Minneapolis most of my life. I know I have got a family of my own in my home town.
When did you start making music ?
I started making music in 2017. That’s where I started to learn my flow and sound. It wasn’t easy at first quickly, but I took a liking quickly to my voice.
What inspired you to get into the music industry ?
My brother Jodé Exo suggested we do it one day and I just, ain’t ever stopped, since it’s been a passion of mine ever since.
What is the most challenging thing you have overcome in your life ?
Honestly, it’s staying motivated day to day. You know, that shit is a new challenge every day to wake up and find whatever it is you need to be self-driven.
Do you have any current projects or sing out, if yes, tell us more ?
I just released a new album titled “Two Tone Demon”, 17 songs, and it’s really just some of the best music I’ve made to date. I think it’s something for everybody on there.
Who inspires you the most musically ?
Artists such as Lil Wayne, Young Thug, Future & Youngboy. I think the way they’ve always approached music is just with a relentless nature. So that’s something I mentally always try to tap into when I get into the studio.
What is your greatest achievement as a musician ?
I think it’s getting people to recite and memorize words that are about my life. Ain’t really topped that.
