Watch the Trailer for Kanye West’s Netflix Documentary ‘jeen-yuhs: A Kanye Trilogy’
Over 21 years in the making, a new Kanye West documentary is coming to Netlflix.
Described as a “landmark documentary event,” jeen-yuhs: A Kanye Trilogy will roll out over the course of three weeks. The multi-part series was helmed by Clarence “Coodie” Simmons and Chike Ozah, who directed two of West’s first music videos, “Through the Wire” and the third iteration of “Jesus Walks.”
The “intimate and revealing” series will focus on the rapper-turned-billionaire’s formative days trying to break through and his life today as a global brand and artist. The first trailer has been released and opens with a clip of Ye arguing with Rhymefest after he describes himself as a “genius,” and features additional appearances from JAY-Z and Kanye’s late mother, Donda West.
“Very rarely do you encounter self-contained people. This man can do everything himself. He livin’ it,” Pharrell says of Ye.
jeen-yuhs: A Kanye Trilogy will premiere virtually at the Sundance Film Festival later this month. It will hit theaters nationwide for a one-day engagement on Feb. 10 before streaming on Netflix starting Feb. 16.
Netflix reportedly paid $30 million for the documentary. While West is not creatively involved in the production, he has given his blessing by allowing himself to be filmed by Coodie & Chike for the past two decades.
