Young Thug Readies New Album ‘Punk’ for October
The Punk era begins.
After dying his hair pink, Young Thug is now readying his new album Punk for release this October.
The YSL rapper offered a preview of the long-awaited project during a stripped-down set for NPR Music’s Tiny Desk (home) concert, which was recorded in the gardens of the Houdini Estate in Los Angeles.
With help from Travis Barker and the band Damaged Goods, Jeffrey performed a rock version of his Slime Language 2 hit “Ski” and debuted four new songs—”Die Slow,” “Droppin Jewels,” “Hate the Game,” and “Tick Tock”—the latter which he teased during his Rolling Loud Miami set over the weekend.
Thugger also appeared to announce an Oct. 15 release date for the album, which arrives two years after his last solo album, So Much Fun. The date can be seen on the back of his shirt during his performance.
“This album Punk that I’m going to put out soon is probably going to be the best album, because it really teaches you, gives you life situations, it’s teaching I’m human. I am you. I am him. It’s very verbal. I think it’ll probably be the best album even though it’s not out,” he told Rolling Stone in a 2019 interview.
