D4vd Arrested on Suspicion of Murder in Celeste Rivas Case

D4vd, the artist known legally as David Burke, was arrested Thursday evening in connection with the death of 14-year-old Celeste Rivas. This development marks a significant shift in a case that has remained a focal point of public attention since the discovery of the teenager’s remains last fall.

Law enforcement officials took Burke into custody at his Hollywood residence, subsequently booking him into the LAPD 77th Street Station Jail at approximately 10 p.m. He is currently being held without bail on suspicion of murder. The arrest follows an extensive investigation initiated after Rivas’ remains were found in September inside an impounded Tesla registered to the singer.

While the Los Angeles Police Department has officially classified the investigation as a homicide, an official cause of death has not yet been disclosed to the public. Burke’s legal representatives have issued a formal denial of the allegations. In a statement, his attorneys asserted that the evidence will ultimately demonstrate that Burke did not murder Celeste Rivas Hernandez and was not responsible for her death. They further noted that as of Friday morning, no formal indictment has been returned by a grand jury, nor has a criminal complaint been filed.

The Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office is currently reviewing evidence provided by investigators to determine if there is sufficient cause to file formal charges against the 21-year-old musician. The case has been subject to intense public scrutiny and speculation since the discovery of the body. In November, Los Angeles Police Captain Scot Williams addressed viral misinformation, confirming that the remains had been in the vehicle for several weeks prior to their discovery, while debunking rumors regarding the condition of the body.

The investigation has also extended to the singer’s inner circle, with reports indicating that Burke’s family members were previously ordered to testify via court subpoenas. As the legal process continues, Burke’s defense team has stated their intention to vigorously defend his innocence. The artist remains in custody as the community and the public await further updates from the District Attorney’s office.
